The Climb You Didn’t Expect — Trusting the Unseen Course Corrections
Whispers of Remembrance: Episode 63
The descent felt steady. The runway was in sight. And then — without warning — the engines roared and the climb began.
In this Whisper, I share a moment from my own life that became a living metaphor for these times. When life shifts suddenly, it’s easy to believe the plan has failed. But what if that change in course is protection? What if the climb you didn’t expect is aligning you with a better landing than you could imagine?
This is a reflection on nothing being as it appears, and on the truth that everything holds a gift — if we choose to unwrap it.
The Whisper
The descent was steady, the runway in sight.
You could almost feel the wheels touch the ground in your imagination.
And then — without warning — the engines roared,
the nose lifted,
and the horizon dropped away.
From where you sat, it looked like the plan had failed.
You were so close.
Why turn away now?
But somewhere, in a vantage you could not see,
another truth was guiding the course.
A shift in the wind,
an unseen obstruction,
a call from the tower you could not hear.
The climb was not a mistake — it was protection.
So it is now.
In these days when truths are breaking the surface like sudden weather,
when the ground you expected to land on is not where your feet will touch,
remember this:
Nothing is as it appears.
And everything, everything, holds a gift.
But the gift will not open itself.
You must choose to unwrap it.
Even the moments that lift you away from what you thought was certain.
Even the delays you didn’t want.
Even the truths that make the world tremble in disbelief.
The climb you didn’t expect may be the very thing keeping you safe,
aligning you with a better landing than you could imagine.
Reflective Expansion
Sometimes, life pulls us sharply away from what we expected,
and the first instinct is to search for explanations,
to demand the “why” before we’re willing to trust the new path.
But there are moments when the deeper wisdom guiding us
is simply not visible from our seat in the cabin.
All we feel is the tilt, the change in pressure,
the disorientation of rising when we thought we were descending.
In those moments, presence becomes our anchor.
And trust — not in blind naivety,
but in the awareness that there may be protection, grace, or alignment
woven into this course correction —
becomes the doorway to peace.
Journal Prompts
Recall a time when an unexpected change kept you safe or led to something better. What did you learn from that experience?
In your current life, what “unwrapped gifts” might be hidden inside a delay or change in direction?
Where can you release the need to see the whole plan before you’re willing to trust the next step?
Action Step
Choose one current situation where things have not gone as you expected.
Pause and ask yourself: If this climb is protection, what might it be keeping me aligned with?
You don’t need the full answer — simply open the space for a gentler interpretation.
Affirmation
“I trust the course corrections I cannot yet see.
Every turn holds a gift, and I choose to unwrap it.”
Closing Blessing
May you be steady in the sudden climbs,
gentle with yourself in the circling waits,
and brave enough to land only where love would have you arrive.
And when the engines roar unexpectedly,
may your heart know —
this is not the end,
this is the way.
